Tis the season for giving and as a non-profit organization, we rely on the generosity of others to help keep our shelter going! We are hoping during this holiday season that you will be able to contribute a modest amount to Caroline Humane.
The single most significant expense of our mission is the cost of veterinary care.
Here are just a few rough examples of expenses we incur regularly:
• Heartworm Treatment approx $600 per dog
• Cat or dog spayed or neutered prior to adoption $40 - $50
• Age appropriate current vaccinations
• Dogs and puppies, if age appropriate, tested for heartworm, lyme and ehrlichia and started on heartworm preventative
• Cats and kittens tested for feline leukemia and FIV
• Flea and tick treatment
• Cats and dogs microchipped
• Unexpected surgeries or treatment - many animals come to us with skin issues, ear infections, ear mites, heartworms, other worms, some with broken bones or tears or sprains
As you can see, donating to our veterinary fund significantly impacts the amount of rescue work we can continue to do. At times, the cost is overwhelming. Donating directly to our fund helps place animals in homes and keeps our mission going.
