How “FREE” is that “Free to Good Home” dog or cat? Here's something to consider, you may not be aware of how much you need to be prepared for the "starter" costs for vet visit, shots, and ensure the pet is healthy. If there are any other issues, the prices go up from there.
Below is an outline of the preliminary fees that vets charge for the same services that we provide. The difference is these services are included in our adoption fee. These numbers are what you can expect locally, and will be significantly higher if you live out of the area.
When you adopt a dog or a cat through the Caroline County Humane Society, the adoption fee (which includes all of the below) is $150 for Dogs and $125 for Cats. Quite a savings! Caroline County residents pay only $95 for dogs and cats
