Through it all, our door and our hearts are always open

We need our community, the animals need you.

Where can we go from here? This is where we need your help.

COVID-19 and the resulting pandemic have touched all of our lives. No one is exempt, and the effects are far-reaching. This goes beyond just the human toll. Domestic animals and animal shelters have suffered because of the pandemic as well. This includes our little shelter at the Caroline County Humane Society. We have been hit extremely hard by our inability to hold fundraising activities for much needed money to keep our doors open. Add to this the constant inflow of animals through our doors. We have never closed our doors to animals in need. Our staff has been there all along accepting and caring for those animals. .

Essentially every animal who comes through our door receives some type of veterinary care. We spend an incredible amount of money every year on veterinary care for the over 1,500 animals who find themselves homeless through no fault of their own.

Our rising veterinary costs have pushed us to a new reality—we need a FULL TIME VETERINARIAN to care for our many animals’ medical needs. The cost of spay/neuter, vaccinations, office visits to local vets, and medications is so high that the Board of Directors has decided that we must get our medical clinic back up and running again!

The truth is money is tight and when we are faced with a hardship, we always turn to you, our friends, supporters, fellow animal advocates, to help us with special needs. We understand the financial strain many of you have had over the last several months, and it is hard for us to ask, but we must in order to save lives. We are asking for your help so that we can continue to save the lives of the deserving animals that come through our doors and into our hearts.

You can help animals in need.
